Management structure

Under the current governance arrangements, the day to day executive functions of Active Sussex are handled by its core staff, made up of the Chief Executive, Senior Partnership Manager, Education & Club Links Manager, Business Support Manager, Sports Development Manager, Sports Development Officer, Coach Development Manager, PR & Communications Co-ordinator, Events & External Fundraising Officer and Business Support Officer.  Active Sussex also contracts an external consultant to deliver its Active & Healthy Workplaces programme, and the County Basketball Development Officer is also employed through Active Sussex.

The Board of Trustees (through monitoring of the business plan on a quarterly basis) oversees the work of the core team, and along with its statutory governance duties, it is responsible for setting and deciding strategic policy direction in pursuance of the charitable aims and business needs.

Budgets are devolved to the senior managers and other individual officers as appropriate, with monthly management accounts provided to all budget holders to enable ongoing financial monitoring and control. The Board of Trustees and other stakeholders receive monitoring figures on a quarterly basis. All payments are authorised in accordance with Active Sussex’s financial regulations and procedures.
