Five intreprid explorers from Worthing companies have come together to raise money for local charities by tackling the gruelling Three Peaks challenge.

The adventurous volunteers will set out to conquer the three highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales on 22 June. They will aim to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in just 24 hours.

The 3,4,5 Challenge Team is made up of Paul Archer, John Billings and Alan Edwards from chartered accountants Carpenter Box, Richard Butler from financial advisers The Fry Group, and Troy Bradley from fitness company3DFC. At the time of the ascent Paul will be 65 and celebrating 35 years at Carpenter Box.

The aim of their challenge is to raise as much money as possible for four Sussex charities, including Active Sussex. All donations will be made via the Carpenter Box Charitable Foundation. In addition to Active Sussex, money raised will be distributed to The Chestnut Tree House, Sussex Wildlife Trust and Worthing & District Animal Rescue Service (WADARS).

John Billings, managing partner of Carpenter Box, and one of the five walkers taking part, said: "Our target is £10,000 which we hope to reach before we attempt the climb."

Active Sussex chief executive Sadie Mason said: "We are extremely pleased to have been selected as one of the local charities to benefit from this fantastic challenge. Money donated will enable us to support the hard-working professionals and volunteers in the field who work year round to ensure inclusive access to sport for the residents of Sussex."
