A 17-year-old judokai from Angmering has been selected to represent Great Britain in the forthcoming Under 20 Hungarian European Cup.

Peter Vincent secured his place after taking the silver medal in the -100kg category at a European Judo competition in Venray, Netherlands, earlier this year.

"It is a fantastic selection for me and one I have been working very hard for," said Peter. "I have had a lot of support from Virgin Active Rustington who provide me with a free gym membership and also from London Clubs International, who are my official Sports Aid partner."

The Hungarian European cup includes a tough three-day training camp which will help Peter's development at the top European level.

"Its an opportunity [for me] to compete against, and train with, the top Judo players in Europe," he said.

While the senior GB squad will be focusing on London 2012 in a few weeks time, Peter will be training hard to get ready for the start of the new ranking cycle and to qualify for selection for the Under 20 European and World championships in 2013.

Peter will be guest of honour at the Sussex School Games, K2 Crawley, on 3 July.
