Hundreds of thousands of spectators turned out on Monday to watch the Olympic torch as it entered Sussex and made its way to its overnight stop in Brighton.
During the day more than 100 torchbearers, including local celebrities Robin Cousins and Sally Gunnell, braved wet and windy conditions to carry the Olympic flame through the county, en route to London for the start of the Games on 27 July.
About 10,000 ticketholders watched as the final torchbearer of the day, Karen West (pictured), lit the cauldron at Sussex County Cricket ground in Hove, before local music duo Rizzle Kicks performed for the crowd.
"It was a fantastic, memorable evening," said Hannah Brooks, England Netball Development Officer for Sussex, who attended the finale at the County Ground. "It was a great community event for all the family, igniting Olympic passion with fun, entertainment and music."
On Day 60 of its journey, the torch will continue through the county, visiting Crawley, Lewes and Eastbourne, arriving at its final stopover in Sussex at the Stade, Hastings, at 7pm on 17 July. Earlier in the day, at around 5.30pm, comedian and endurance runner Eddie Ezzard is scheduled to carry the flame through his former hometown of Bexhill.
