Horsham District Council is hosting a Paralympics party in Horsham Park on Saturday, August 25 to help celebrate the lead-up to London 2012 Paralympic Games, which start in just a few days time. Attractions include a carnival procession, an enormous painted Paralympic panel created by local artists and Angmering School pupils, sport tasters, live bands, DJs, dance workshops and performances and craft workshops.

Activities from 10:30am to 12:15pm will include goalball, boccia, blind football, table tennis, athletics, cricket and gymnastics. All of the sessions are free and fully inclusive.

Angmering School wheelchair table tennis player Tyler Paul, who won bronze at the World Junior Games in 2011, will take part in the official London lighting ceremony before bringing a lantern and part of the flame to Horsham.

After the flame is officially welcomed people are also invited to chill out in the park for a community picnic.

In the event of bad weather, the celebration will go ahead but some details and locations may change. Any updates will be posted on www.horsham.gov.uk
